Eugene Putzier

Eugene M. Putzier, 90, of St. Charles, MN, died on Sunday, July 26, 2020, of natural causes at home surrounded by his family. Eugene was born July 3, 1930, in St. Charles, MN, to Gustave and Margaret (Wegman) Putzier. Eugene attended District 50 "Country" School located ¼ mile north of the family homestead until 8th grade and then St. Charles High School thru 10th grade, at which time began helping on the family farm. Eugene then enlisted in the United States Navy from January 4, 1951, through November 1, 1954, and served during the Korean War. Eugene was united in marriage to Anna M. Ledebuhr on February 12, 1953, until her death on January 19, 1995.
Eugene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. Life on the farm and farming was his passion, and he never considered himself retired. He enjoyed riding the golf cart around the farm, gardening, collecting toy tractors, antiquing. Woodworking, fishing, deer hunting and spending time with family. Eugene retired in March 2020, from the Dover Township Board after serving 62 years as a Supervisor. He lived a great life and will be dearly missed.
Eugene is survived by six daughters and three sons: Sandy (Jeff) Larson of St. Charles, Rose (Craig) Kroening of Eyota, Mike (Robyn) of St. Charles, Mary (Dale) Woodward of Eyota, Dave (Jean) of St. Charles, Jerry (Rochelle) of St. Charles, Patty (Tom Cuper) Putzier of Clayton, WI, Deb (Bob) Sprau of Blooming Prairie, and Sue (Chris) Wood of LaCrescent; 19 grandchildren: Keith (Brandee) Kroening, Denise (John) Cassidy, Heather (Aaron) Knutson, Amanda (Brent) Putzier, Nathan (Amber Jo) Putzier, Jarrard (Angie) Woodward, Cassandra (Josh) Baysal, Terrence (Stephanie) Woodward, Logan and Kyle Putzier, Matthew, Leah, and Mitchell Putzier, Rachael (Spencer) Peterson, Cody (Hannah) Paulson, Amber (Jamie) Kiefer, Emily Sprau, Ian and Anna Wood; 10 great grandchildren: Gavin and Lauren Kroening, Ty and Breck Cassidy, Brooks and Tayla Knutson, Patience Putzier, Gannon Peterson, Wyatt and Brooklyn Kiefer; two sisters: Mary Ann Aldrich of Derby, Kansas and Catherine (Marvin) Hruska of Sturgis, SD; two brothers: George (Pat) Putzier and Lawrence Putzier of St. Charles, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and granddaughter, Sarah, and three brothers: Vincent, Ivan, and Leo Putzier.
Visitation will be at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles on Thursday, July 30, 2020, from 4 - 7 pm and one hour before the Funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will occur Friday, July 31, 2020, at 11 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles, with Reverend Tim Biren officiating. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in St. Charles, MN, with Military Honorary Services. Please follow social distancing guidelines and wear a mask. The Mass will be LIVE Streamed at www.redeemersaints.org.
