Rochester, MN - Kristie Lee Benson, 69, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully at Mayo - Franciscan Healthcare Hospital, La Crosse, WI, on November 25, 2019.
Kristie was born to Norman and Norma (Larson) Benson on April 10, 1950. Raised in Houston, MN and a graduate of Houston High School. Kristie continued her education, leading her to a successful career at IBM in Rochester, MN until retirement.
To those who knew and loved her, Kristie was a fun-loving, sweet and loyal person. Her no-nonsense outlook on life and her sense of humor made her an example of strength for her family and friends. Despite her physical disability, she was capable of accomplishing any feat. She accepted no boundaries and she saw no handicap. There was nothing she couldn't do.
Kristie had an amazing outlook on life, so many strengths, unbelievable talents, humor, and love. Kristie taught us all about courage, strength, skill, endurance, spunk, and so much more!

A lifelong inspiration and friend. Kristie leaves a lasting legacy!
Rushford HS class of 1968
I worked with Kris for many years at IBM. She was a wonderful wonderful person and an inspiration to us all. RIP
sorry to read about Kristie's passing. Loved having her as a neighbor at Auburn Place the last 29 years. She was fun loving and great to visit with as we picked up our mail by her house. Jean and Arnie Skogebo at 2257.
It was 7:15am; the college halls were dim & quiet as a small figure appears in the rising sunlight. "Are you my teacher?" came a delightful voice, "I'm Kristie." How could I have known this would be the start of a memorable experience & relationship for me! I watched in amazement as Kristie succeeded in all secretarial tasks and "Aced" the entire program as well as became the class comic & inspiration to us all! Kristie has always been on my mind and in my heart the last 30+ years since that early morning meeting. No, Kristie, YOU WERE MY TEACHER! RIP
Mary Thoen, Core Instructor

I am so sorry for the loss of your sister, your aunt, your cousin. Kristie was a very nice person and I really enjoyed talking with her when I would see her at IBM Rochester when we both worked there. Kristie will be missed here but it is comforting to know she has been re united with those that passed before her. God bless you all.
