I am so sorry for your loss. Val was a very great lady. I met her through Veteran's Affair with my father Pat Cumiskey. He always thought the world of Val. She always gave him the time he needed and help getting through any questions he had. She also spent mush time helping me with things after his passing. She deserved so much more retirement time. She has been missed by many at Veterans Affairs and will be missed by all now. Thank you for sharing her.Bless you and your family at your time of loss

On behalf of the Minnesota CVSO Assistants and Secretaries Association, I wish to express our deepest sympathies to your family. As Val’s counterpart in Olmsted County, I’m so sorry for your loss! I too have made my career helping veterans, and Winona County was very lucky to have Val for so many years. It was a privilege knowing her!
Oh Valerie, you left us way too soon. Your help, support and knowledge on the IBM Support page was SO helpful. I knew you were always watching out for those who had questions You documented your answers so I never worried that it wasn't current info. I had just asked to have you added as a moderator. I will miss you so much but I know you are now free of this disease unencumbered by walkers, wheelchairs and fear of falling.. I love you. Mary Jane DeLauder, FL(Myositis Support & Understanding)
Valerie was the BEST Veterans Service Officer I ever had the privilege of working with. She was extremely well informed, provided exceptional service to us vets and willingly went the extra mile to assist us. Valerie knew how to word our claims so the VA would at least take them in consideration. Her ability to communicate with veterans and their families was extraordinary. She had my respect and has been greatly missed since her retirement! My deepest sympathy goes to her family. Terry Schwanke

To Valerie's family, you have my deepest sympathy. Valerie was a classmate at HHS. I always enjoyed catching up with her at our reunions, and seeing the photos of her beloved grandchildren on her Facebook posts. Hoping you can be comforted by the knowledge of the love she had for you all.
This is sad and stunning news. Valerie was our classmate and friend. We shared a love for family and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Much love and prayers for all the family.
