Luella "Lu" Maryann Theresa Wise, age 91, of Winona died Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Lake Winona Manor.
Luella was born August 7, 1927 to Louis and Margaret (Lammers) Scherbring in Minnesota City. She grew up around the Minnesota City and Rollingstone area and attended Rollingstone Schools. Luella married Robert Wise on October 28, 1950. They were members of Cathedral of The Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Luella was a wonderful mother to seven children. They had lived in Plainview and Elgin before settling in Winona. Robert and Luella loved going out together and she always was dressed for the occasion. They especially loved going out dancing together. They even danced in the group "The Boot Scootin Grannies" where they performed locally. A little-known secret of Luella's is her trophy for winning the Yodel Contest at the Winona Mall. Family and friends were her true pride and joy. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchilren as they came along.
Luella is survived by her children, Debra (Lindsey) Posey, Linda (Tony) Kiedrowski, William Wise (Tom Taylor), Barbara (Jeff) Canar, Michael (Anne) Wise, Karen (Donnie) Andre, and daughter-in-law Jill Wise. Deb and Family, so sorry for your loss. I remember your mom when we were in grade school. Always busy in the kitchen and always warning us to be good.
My memory of Luella is her generosity of giving to others. She was a great neighbor on Lafayette Street many years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with Luella's family. The Mary Jane Mullen Family
I have fond and vivid memories of Lu. I remember her walking to the YWCA every day during recess at Cathedral. And she was my first and only day care provider! She was a sweet, soft spoken woman with a great laugh. My sympathies to Karen and the rest of the Wise family. RIP Lu. ❤️
We are so sorry for your loss.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. The Gaustads
