Virginia "Ginny" Koenig

May 23, 1930 — September 8, 2019

Virginia graduated from Cathedral High School in 1948 and married George Koenig on June 25, 1949 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wilson, MN. In 1950 they moved to Montana near relatives and returned to Winona in 1958.
Virginia was sweet and kindhearted; she loved the simple pleasures in life. She always had beautiful flower gardens that she was very proud of and loved to show visitors her latest blooms. She enjoyed baking cookies, painting, sewing and crafts, getting together with her sisters and family, reading, anything chocolate and the peacefulness of living in the country.
Virginia loved being a mom. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and her eyes lit up and a warm welcoming smile appeared the moment she saw them. Holidays and birthday get togethers were some of her favorite times. She loved to cook big meals and talk and laugh. She had a wonderful sense of humor.
Virginia's Catholic faith was very important to her. It guided her through the most difficult times in her life, giving her strength and hope. She instilled those beliefs in her children and grandchildren.
