Thomas "Tom" Styx, 61, of Winona, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home on November 28, 2025. Born on June 9, 1964, in Moline, Illinois, Tom grew up with a spirit that was as hardworking as it was warm. He had a gift for connecting with people from every walk of life—talking, laughing, teaching, and lifting others up with ease.
Tom was the son of Jeff and Michele Styx and brother to Jeff, Tony, and Mike. He built a life rooted in family, generosity, and grit. He married Julie, with whom he shared deep love and devotion. Later in life, he found companionship and partnership again with Geri, with whom he shared many meaningful years.
He was a proud father to Ty, Logan, Molly, and Louis, and a devoted grandfather to Blake, Zach, Amy, and Sapphire. His loyal dog, Sadie, rarely left his side and was a companion through every chapter of his life. From the moment Tom adopted Ty at age 6 till the birth of his youngest son Louis he was always a Father who could teach, joke, empower and love. Those who knew Tom knew the love he had for his children.
As a graduate of Moline High School, Tom also participated in football and track. He served in the Army and later built a successful career in several fields—car sales, the trades, and business ownership with G&G Company. Whether he was under the hood of a vehicle, behind the wheel, or showing a kid how to use a tool for the first time, Tom’s hands were always working, fixing, or helping.
Tom always said "Pay yourself first"—a reminder to value your own effort and invest in what matters. After the loss of Julie, he showed his love not with grand gestures but with steady, quiet ones. For 18‑year‑old Ty, that sometimes meant a hundred dollars slipped into a hand for gas or food—simple moments of comfort at a time when they mattered most.
He lived his life around Logan too, embracing everything Logan loved. From driving him and his friends to skate parks and ski hills, to building what became the best half pipe Whitehall had ever seen, Tom poured time, sweat, and pride into the things that brought his kids joy. These small acts became anchors of love his children will carry with them always.
Tom’s humor was legendary. A movie‑quote guy through and through, he recited lines, acted out scenes, and delivered punchlines that could fill a room with laughter. He loved riding ATVs, gambling for the thrill of it, traveling, and taking on projects for his kids.
His favorite places included the lake house up north, the local tavern where everyone knew his name, and anywhere the road stretched out ahead. His soundtrack was Billy Joel and The Cars, and no one could watch Dumb and Dumber with him without laughing twice as hard.
Above all else, Tom will be remembered as the cool kid who grew into the cool dad—confident, kind, and effortlessly himself. He made people feel seen and welcomed, and he taught his children not just how to drive everything with wheels, but how to move through life with heart, courage, and generosity.
Nobody will ever fully understand the way he stepped up when Julie passed more than Ty and Logan. This was Tom’s true MVP performance—selfless, caring, and precise with every action. Knowing his boys could go one way or the other, he fathered them like a man with everything to prove, and he proved it every single day.
Tom was proceeded in death by his Grandparents, Roger and Milly; first wife, Juile; and second wife, Geri.
He is survived by his children, Ty (Lindsay), Logan, Molly, and Louis; grandchildren, Blake, Zach, Amy, and Sapphire; his parents, Jeff (Donna) and Michele (Mike); and siblings, Jeff, Tony (Lois), and Mike (Mary).
Private family services will be held.
Tom Styx lived big, loved fiercely, and leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and unforgettable stories. He will be missed more than words can say.
