Susan Lyngaas

January 9, 1941 — May 23, 2025

Susan "Sue" Lyngaas, age 84, of St. Charles, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025 surrounded by family. Born on January 9, 1941, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN, she was the beloved daughter of Melvin "Red" and Christine "Burnette" Christenson.

Sue graduated from St. Charles High School in 1959, after which she worked diligently as a surgical aide to save money for nursing school. In 1963, she proudly graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing with her LPN. Sue dedicated her career to nursing, specializing as a surgical nurse in cardiac and general surgery, where she touched the lives of many with her compassionate care. After raising her children, Sue worked at Mayo as a dispatcher for the escorts for many years until her retirement.

On December 4, 1965, Sue married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Lyngaas, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together, they raised their two children, Jay and Kerri, in a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished family gatherings. Sue was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she actively participated in Bible study and embraced her faith.

Known for her tidy and organized nature, Sue was always put together and well-dressed. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and took immense joy in her role as a grandmother to her grandchildren. A devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins, she often spent her time cheering on her favorite teams and watching her favorite TV show, Friends. Summers with Bob at their vacation home in Lake Clitherall created countless treasured memories that will forever remain in the hearts of her family.

Sue is survived by her loving children, Jay (Angela) Lyngaas of Holmen, WI and Kerri Leucuta of St. Charles; two grandchildren, Hayden Rosenblatt of Rochester, and Maddison Leucuta of St. Charles; step-grandchildren, Jacob and Tristan; sister, Beverly Nisbit; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Lyngaas; siblings, Donald Christenson, LaVonne (Wesley) Majerus, Jack (Marilyn) Christenson, Melvin Jr. Christenson; brother-in-law's, Robert Nisbit, and Jewell (Ruth) Lyngaas.
