Scott Charles Wadewitz, age 62, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026. He was born on July 21, 1963, in Winona, Minnesota, to Paul and Carol (née Wager) Wadewitz.

Scott graduated from Winona Senior High in 1981, and shortly after, he embarked on a noble journey as a member of the United States Navy. He dedicated six years to active duty, serving aboard a submarine, followed by an additional 12 years in the Navy Reserves. 

Scott always pursued further education, earning his undergraduate degree from Winona State University and a master’s degree from North Dakota State University, followed by additional studies at the University of Nebraska. A forever student, Scott enjoyed history, mathematics, and was an avid reader of science fiction. 

Scott devoted over 25 years of his career to Gatan Inc., where he was a Electronic Microscopy Engineer. 

Scott was also an enthusiastic coin collector, a lover of card games, a fisherman, and a traveler. Scott loved his cat, Willow, despite being allergic.

Scott loved his family, and he cherished the moments spent with his nieces.

Scott is survived by his siblings, Jeffrey, and Beth; nieces, Jennifer (Jayson) and Stephanie (Nicholas) Long; and great nephews, Maximus and Theodore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul, and Carol; and brother-in-law, Dan. 

A memorial service to honor Scott will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 2:30pm at Hoff Celebration of Life Center (3480 Service Dr. Winona, MN) with visitation beginning at 1pm.
