Sandra Lee Frick (Holmay), 70, of Winona, Minnesota, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on March 3, 2026.
Born in Winona, Minnesota, to Thomas and Esther Holmay on December 3, 1955, Sandy was a hometown girl through and through. She built a life rooted in family, faith, beauty, and celebration. She earned her associate degree from Winona Technical Institute and went on to work as a Safety Director for Bob Brink and Hot Line Freight before retiring.
Sandy spent her life creating beauty and offering comfort to others. Between big hair, cake decorating, gardening, and music, she had a gift for finding the good in any situation, and more importantly, the beauty in it. Her home was filled with laughter, love, frosting-covered counters, and anything that shimmered. She loved the sparkle in life, and a little glitter only made it better.
She loved music that made you dance, cry, or sing. Conversations that turned into laughter or a life lesson. Gatherings that felt like a party, because everything was worth celebrating.
If something could be made more beautiful, more joyful, or a little sweeter, Sandy would find a way to make it so.
But Sandy’s true masterpiece was her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert Frick; her children, Terri (Wyatt) Kopka and Jeremy (Stephanie) Burt; her stepchildren, Emily (Curtis) Paulson, Lindsey (Patrick) Frick, and Seth Frick; and her cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Benjamin Burt, and Liam, Zeke, and Phoebe Paulson.
Sandy is survived by her sisters, Mary (Greg) Tyler, Lori (Scott) Jackels, Terri (Orrin) Brown, and Deb Brink (Dan Skelton), along with many extended family members and dear friends who became family along the way.
Sandy didn’t just attend celebrations, she created them. She believed life was meant to be decorated, music meant to be played, and every gathering deserved thoughtful details. She leaves behind a legacy of beauty, warmth, faith, and love — and a reminder to add a little glitter whenever possible.
Her life was a garden, lovingly tended, bright with color, and shared generously with all who knew her.
Now she rests in the arms of the Lord. We imagine heaven a little more joyful, and perhaps decorated with a little more shimmer and sugar. Her beauty lingers in every bloom of a rose, in every taste of frosting, and in every song played… and it always will.
Services will be held at Looney Valley Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 7, at 11:00 a.m.
