Ruth Ida Paulson

October 24, 1931 — January 12, 2021

Ruth Ida Paulson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
Born on October 24, 1931 to Ernest and Ida (Evers) Vehrenkamp, Ruth grew up in Wykoff, MN graduating from Wykoff High School in 1949. Ruth then worked in medical records at Mayo Clinic until her marriage to Harold Paulson on May 29, 1954. Together they made their home on the family farm in Utica and shared their lives for 63 years until Harold's passing in 2018.
In addition to working alongside Harold on the farm, Ruth kept the pantry shelves well stocked with canned goods from her garden and apple trees, and the freezer filled with farm fresh vegetables. The oven always seemed to be on baking fresh buns, cakes, pies, and cookies to share.
Ruth enjoyed brightening her family and friends' days by the many greeting cards she sent with messages of love. Never was a birthday or anniversary missed!
Ruth was a member of Arendahl Lutheran Church where she was involved in many church groups and activities. Ruth taught us that God, faith, and family are most important in life and she led by that example.
Ruth leaves behind a large family that shares loving memories of her including six children, Patti (Lenny) Manna, Vicki (Brad) Fish, Julie (John) Mulhern, Steve (Sharon) Paulson, Cammy (Tim) Harrison, and Carl (Lyse) Paulson; 11 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Marvin (Sharyn) Vehrenkamp, Marlys (Norbert) Reiland, and Norman Vehrenkamp; and brother-in-law, Orlando Dahle.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Harold and sisters, Verna Dahle and Eleanor Vehrenkamp.
A drive by visitation will be from 10-11a.m., Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the Arendahl Lutheran Church followed by a private family service with The Reverend Sarah Brown officiating. Ruth will be laid to rest in the Arendahl Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Arendahl Lutheran Church Cemetery. Please leave a memory of Ruth and sign her online guestbook at www.hofffuneral.com.
