Rose Ann Laumb

Rose Ann Laumb, 77, of Rushford, MN died on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI with her children at her side.

Rose Ann Randall was born on September 14, 1945, in Money Creek Township of Houston County, MN to Allen and Rose Mary (O’Donnell) Randall. Rose Ann was raised on Vinegar Hill east of Rushford where she attended country school. She was a 1963 graduate of Rushford High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and her master’s degree in guidance and counseling, both from Winona State University. Rose Ann married Donald Laumb in July of 1968. They had two children, John, and Jackie. They later divorced.  After college, Rose Ann worked as a physical education teacher in Flint, MI for a short time and spent the majority of her teaching career with Houston High School, Houston, MN. She then stayed home to raise her two children. Her and Donald enjoyed buying and renovating property in their early years and she was still actively managing the property.  After raising her children, she spent many years as the executive director of the Fillmore County DAC, until her retirement in 2007. 

In Rose Ann’s retirement, she took great joy in caring for her grandchildren and spending time with family.  Her and her grandchildren enjoyed daily walks around town, trips to the park and library, and days spent sharing the special love between her and her grandchildren.  She took pride in how her positive influence impacted their lives.  She enjoyed working side by side with her two children on various projects in town or on the farms.  Oftentimes setting her own work aside to lend a helping hand.  She would load up her tools, ladders, paint, cleaning supplies at the drop of a hat to help her daughter.  In her opinion there was no better way to spend her free time.  She never shied away from hard work.  She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, journaling, travelling and taking care of her cats.  She cherished her home farm on Vinegar Hill and enjoyed spending time there taking care of it.  She will be forever missed by all of us.  She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rushford.

Rose Ann is survived by her son, John (Andrea) Laumb, and their children: Carson and Cole; daughter, Jackie (Cory) Baker, and their children, Zachary and Brooklyn; and by her close friend, Rick King.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Lou Duffy; and aunts and uncles.

There will be a Funeral Mass for Rose Ann at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rushford. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31, at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford and one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday at the Church.
