Romelle Kramer

April 21, 1938 — September 2, 2025

Romelle Kramer, 87, of Elba, passed away on September 2, 2025. Born on April 21, 1938, in Irish Valley in Waumandee, Wisconsin, born to Stephan and Helen (Salwey) Symitczek. Growing up on the family farm instilled in her a love for the land and animals that would stay with her throughout her life.

After completing 8th grade at St. Boniface Catholic school, Romelle kicked off her working life at Allen Bradley in Milwaukee. One night at a dance in Arcadia Romelle met her future husband, Joseph Kramer. They tied the knot on October 8, 1960, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, a place dear to her heart where she was baptized, confirmed, and married.

Romelle and Joe settled in Elba, on the Kramer Family Farm, where they raised their family of three kids. Known for her feisty spirit and small but mighty stature, Romelle thrived as a homemaker on the farm. She could tell you the name of every cow just by looking at them and spent countless hours tending to the sheep. Riding her Kawasaki around the farm was one of her great joys, and she took pride in breeding multiple sets of purebred Border Collies. Romelle was very talented in winemaking and canning a variety of produce. You could often find her and Joe at the Lanesboro sales barn. And let's not forget her fierce loyalty to the Green Bay Packers!

Romelle is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 65 years, Joseph Kramer; children, Corinne (David) Veerkamp, Thomas (Susan) Kramer, Yvonne (Dean) Stoa; grandchildren, Jessica Veerkamp, Jennifer Veerkamp, Breanna Veerkamp, Payne Kramer and Lauren (Kevin) Monkam, Paul Bartsh, Chad Bartsh, Jamie (KayCee Johnson) Stoa; great-grandchildren, Mason Stoa, Harper Stoa; siblings, Frances Ryan, Olive Ottum, Steven (Kay) Symitczek, Ruthie Johnson; and sister-in-law, Donna Symitczek.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Peter Sr. and Agnes (Roesler) Symicek, and Joesph Sr. and Susanna (Kennebeck) Salwey; parents, Stephan and Helen (Salwey) Symitczek; siblings, Adolph (Hattie) Symitczek, Sylvester (Evelyn) Symitczek, Helen (George) Blaha, Marion (Raymond) Sluga, George (Romelle) Symitczek, Richard Symitczek; infant siblings, Ester and Robert Symitczek; brother-in-laws, Kenneth Ryan, Donny Ottum, Jerome Johnson, Dave Andre; In-laws, Carl and Irene (Lett) Kramer; and sister-in-law, Mary (Gerald) Connelly.
