Ricky "Rick" Orvin Sweningson

Ricky “Rick” Orvin Sweningson, age 71 of Winona, passed away Monday, October 6th, 2025, in Rochester, Minnesota, with his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter by his side.

Rick was born March 11th, 1954, in Rochester to Orvin and Doris (Hoppe) Sweningson. He graduated from Lewiston High School. Rick was injured on a construction job that left him with many ailments and unable to work for the remainder of his career. He enjoyed music, fishing, and traveling. Most who knew Rick would describe him as a fun, a bit boisterous, caring, and a friend to everyone, kind of guy. He lived life at full throttle, and his presence will be greatly missed by all who loved and cared for him.

Rick is survived by his father, Orvin; his sons Cory (Cindy) Sweningson, Trevor (Natasha) Sweningson, and his daughter Blair. Three grandchildren; Sebastian, Sydney, and Shelby Sweningson. He is also survived by his brothers, Ron (Dawn), Jeff (Jackie), a sister Janice (Mike); many nieces and nephews and close friends who were like family.

A Celebration in honor of Rick will be held at Jimmy G’s Bar in Utica, Minnesota on Wednesday, November 26th at 3pm. Please join us to share your memories, enjoy food and drinks, and listen to music in Rick’s honor.
