Richard E. Waldera, age 76, of Winona, MN, died Friday, December 19, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family.
Richard was born April 25, 1949, in Winona, the son of Evaryst and Doris (Erdman) Waldera. He graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1967. He was married to Rose Stiehl December 2, 1972 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona, and the couple had 2 children. He worked for JR Watkins, retiring after 44 years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, and camping. In his younger years he enjoyed riding motorcycles, and cars. He was an avid music fan, and listened to music of many genres with his longtime friend, Tom Dvorak. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, especially time spent fishing, and snackies and a movie.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; children: Christopher (Amy), and Michelle (Logan) Olson; grandchildren: Justin, Kaitlyn, Conner, and Colton; siblings: Bob Waldera, and Tammi (Bob) Engen; brother-in-law, Stan Leisgang; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Bill Waldera, and Lori Leisgang; and nieces and nephews: Jeff, Ellen, Charlotte, and Britney.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 11am at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Winona. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be Friday, January 2, 2026, at 10am at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Winona.
