Richard W. Roth, age 78 of St. Charles, passed away at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield on March 5, 2026.
Richard William was born on March 14, 1947 in Winona to William and Veida (Gensmer) Roth. He graduated from high school in 1965 and was already a dedicated farmer by then. He married Marcell Ann Sherman on April 27, 1968. Marcy and Richard farmed and raised their family in rural St. Charles. Richard attended St. Charles Bible Church and was a member of their church board. He also served on the town of Saratoga board over the years. In his younger farming days he was awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer Award. He loved fishing and hunting and gardening. He loved riding motorcycle and in his retirement found raising bees and honey a satifsfying passtime. He loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchilden.
Richard is lovingly survived by his wife Marcy of St. Charles, his children Sherry (Grant) Voth of Red Wing, Terrie Pierce of Wabasha, Tina (Tim) Fliehr of Oronoco, grandchildren Paige (Joe) Krueger of Maple Grove, Katelynne Fliehr of Rochester, Owen Fliehr of Oronoco and Ricky Thoren of Rochester. He is further survived by his siblings Roger (Karen) Roth of Houston, MN, August Roth of Utica and Delores (Paul) Moechnig of Lake City.
He was preceded in death by his parents., two sibings Tony Roth and Julie Nelson and one son-in-law Rick Pierce.
Funeral services will be held for Richard on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Bible Church with Reverend Jim Barnhart officiating.
Visitation will be held at the Hoff Funeral Home of St. Charles on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. and again at the church one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in Worth Cemetery of Utica, Minnesota. Pallbearers will be Chris. Phillip, Ben, Joshua and Jesse Roth, Owen Fliehr and Ricky Thoren.
