Rebecca (Becky) Prebe of Elba, MN, passed away on July 30, 2026, at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview MN.

Becky was the daughter of Harry and Norma (Brown) Haack. She was born May 17, 1940,

at the old Winona General Hospital. She grew up on the family farm west of Altura. She got her first pony when she was 6 years old and then she always had a horse until she got married. She rode in the Winona Valley Riders Drill Team performing at the Minnesota State Fair.

Becky was baptized, confirmed and married at Jehovah Lutheran Church in Altura. She attended grade school in Altura and high school in Lewiston, graduating in 1958. She attended Winona State for 2 years and Winona Vo-Tech graduating in their first secretarial class.

She worked at Vulcan Mfg. and Warner and Swasey doing secretarial work. She was the clerk at Whitewater State Park and later went on to manage the Altura Liquor Store. She worked for Jerome Foods and North Star Foods. She also was the weekend breakfast cook at the Elba House for 25 years.

On August 8,1964, she married Donald Prebe and from this union they had 3 kids. They made their home in Elba where she served 2 terms as Mayor.

She is survived by her 3 children: Troy (Kristen Schweitzer) and their children, Matthew (Liz Streightiff), Daniel, Ashley, and Jakob of St. Charles. Trudy (Tom Lafky) of St. Charles and their children, Erin (Cody Kitzman) of Elgin, and Erica of Rochester. Tracy (Christy Taylor) and their children, Jackson of Seven Springs, North Carolina and Jaedyn of Winona;

Great-grandchildren Payton, Aubree, Sophia Prebe, Mia and Maverick Prebe and Wade Kitzman; her Brother Terry Haack (Pat Hildebrand} of Elba, MN. Along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norma and Harry Haack, her husband, Donald Prebe, and sister, Bonnie Ward.

Becky's greatest joy was time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She shared her love of horses, crocheting, and quilting with her grandchildren, and taught them to play 500 Rummy-often saying no one could beat her, though they proved her wrong many times. She also Loved watching Nascar, football and horse racing (she always watched those with the grandchildren.)

The family would like to thank Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center, Pastor Fast of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in St. Charles and Jody Heim for everything they have done for her.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 11:00am at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with Rev. Thomas Fast officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Elba, MN.
