Ramona Mundell

March 16th, 1947 - January 25, 2026. St. Charles, Minnesota

Ramona was born March 16, 1947, in Benson, Mn. To Blanche L. Gosson Marquardt and Reinnhard Marquardt. Her biological father died in a train accident when she was three years old. Her mother remarried Walter "Mike" Eckhart. Mona spent her early childhood in Benson and loved to spend time swimming and visiting her grandmother. The family moved from Benson to St. Charles, when her father completed highway patrol school.

She graduated from St. Charles High School and later married Jerry Mundell. They had one daughter together.

She worked as a dedicated employee at North Star Foods in St. Charles, for her entire career, before her retirement. She was very knowledgeable of the internal operations of the plant with other employees frequently seeking her out with questions they had. She was promoted and worked for a period of time as a supervisor.

Mona was a friend to everyone (and their pets). She made it into the Southeast Minnesota paper on Aug 8, 2007, for her active participation with the Red Cross and others helping bring relief to Elba, Mn after severe flooding that damaged the town.

She enjoyed planting flowers and in her later years, watching birds and enjoying time with her beloved golden retriever, "Buddy". Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren.

Mona is survived by her three children, Jody Howard of St. Charles, MN., Jamie Marquardt of Rochester, Mn., and Matthew Suarez of Rochester, Mn. and seven siblings, Leon Eckhart of St. Charles, Mn., Ronald "Ron" Eckhart of Ward, Arkansas, Vici Eckhart of Fayetteville Ga., Gary Eckhart of St. Charles, Mn., Tammy Hermanson of Wabasha, Mn., Michael Eckhart of Byron, Mn. And Colleen Eckhart of International Falls, Mn.

Her five grandchildren are James "Bubba" Dean Mundell of St. Charles, Mn., Connor, Mason, Laylah Marquardt of Rochester, Mn. and Autumn Rayne Suarez of Texas. She has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Reinnhard Marquardt (biological father), Blanche L. Eckhart and her father W Walter "Mike" Eckhart. Two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Eckhart and Cheryl Eckhart.

Mona is now with her beloved ones and "Buddy". She is in the arms of Jesus and will be greatly missed.
