            Patricia Ann DeVetter passed away peacefully in the presence of family at her beloved home in the Whitewater valley on January, 28th, 2023. She was 82 years old.Her beautiful soul will be sadly missed by family, friends, and everyone who knew her.

            Pat was born in Rochester, MN on March 1st, 1940, to the late Leo P. McCarthy and Rose A. (Kramer) McCarthy.

            Pat and her 4 siblings, grew up on a hobby farm in the Whitewater valley, where they raised sheep, chickens, cows, pigs, and horses.

            She graduated from St. Charles High School, and then studied to become a LPN, working in St. Paul, Mankato, and Rochester. She also attended Mankato State University. In August 1964, Pat married David L. DeVetter. After living in Mankato for a few years, they moved back to the family farm in Whitewater valley, and raised five children.

            Pat was dedicated to her home parish: St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba, MN. She played organ from the age of 15-to-60, was highly involved in church activities, and served as a one-time president of the Winona Council of Catholic Women.

            Pat instilled in her children the virtues of kindness to others, humility; as well as, the importance of honoring your roots, laughing often, and working hard — no matter what the situation. Her earnestness was displayed in a variety of ways: cutting wood, farming, being a caregiver to her parents -to- painting her nails, dressing up, and playing organ at church -to- being a Century Farm owner, as a great-granddaughter of pioneers in Winona and Olmsted Counties.

            Pat loved gardening, music, watching wildlife in her beautiful surroundings, and supporting her favorite football team, the MN Vikings.

            Her surviving siblings: Mary DeVinny; Charles McCarthy (Judy).

            Her children: Julie DeVetter; John DeVetter; Andrea Brua (Scott); Brian DeVetter (Mel); and Carrie DeVetter; eleven grandchildren: Amber; Christopher; Joseph; Breanna; Catherine; Daniel; Emily; Jeremy; Jason; and Tyler; 10 great-grandchildren: Jackson; Leah; Payton; Jaceton; Isabelle; Gabrielle; Milo; Bailey and Olivia; and her faithful and loving dogs: Rocky and Benji.
            Pat was proceeded in death by her parents,Leo and Rose McCarthy; husband, David L. DeVetter; sister, Barbara Schissell; sister, Kathleen McGuire; brother-in-law, George DeVinny, brother-in-law, James McGuire; brother-in-law Charles DeVetter; sisterin-law Sharon DeVetter;  niece Kimby DeVetter Daniels; and nephew, Michael McCarthy.

            A memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at 11 a.m. The visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Final resting place will be at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Elba, MN.
