Pat Klassen

Utica,Phyllis “Pat” Klassen, 69 of rural Utica died Monday morning April 14th at Rochester Methodist Hospital. Pat was born January 26, 1934 in Wilkin County near Breckenridge, MN to Louis and Grace (Lottel) Tschakert. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1951. In 1954 Pat graduated from St. Gabriel’s School of Nursing in Little Falls. She and Jim Klassen were married January 26, 1957 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Chula Vista, CA. In 1958 they moved to Plainview and later to Dover. Pat worked as an RN at St. Mary’s Hospital and taught LPN training. In 1971 they moved to Minot, ND and later to Moorhead, MN. As her children grew she returned to nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Minot, retiring from nursing in 1996. The couple moved to Utica in 2002. Jim worked as an agent for American Family Insurance for many years.Pat was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles from 1959-1971 and also since their move to Utica in 2002. Pat had a great love for family and for gardening.Survivors include her husband Jim, three children, Bart Klassen of Minneapolis; Theresa (Rick) Jaeger of Bloomington; and Patty (Chad) Polsfut of Minot, four grandchildren, three sisters Helen Lord of Corona, CA; Donna Harper of Sand Point, Idaho; and Mary Miller of Wahpeton, ND, and a brother Jim Tschakert of Kent, MN. Four brothers, Harold; Paul; Robert and Wilbur have died. There will be a Funeral Mass 2PM Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in St.Charles. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Tuesday and 12:30 – 1:30 PM Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home’s – St. Charles Chapel. There will be a Rosary recited at 4:30 PM and a Prayer Service at 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
