Owen Warneke

March 14, 1951 — January 28, 2026

Winona

Owen Warneke, 74 of Winona, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at his home.

Owen was born March 14, 1951 in Minneapolis to Owen and Leila (Wells) Warneke. He graduated from Wayzata High School and the University of Minnesota. Owen moved to Winona where he met his best friend and true soulmate, Jane Jaszewski. They were married on July 18, 1981 and have been inseparable since.

Owen was an architect, having left his fingerprints across the buildings of Winona. He owned and operated his business, OWA Architects, where he often turned clients into friends.

Faith, family and community were the pillars of Owen’s life. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Church and he always made Bible Study and prayer time a priority. He was a family man; he was always by Jane’s side no matter what they were doing in life. His children and grandchild were his pride and joy and he loved being an “Opa.” Owen was always finding ways to give back to the community, serving on several boards throughout the years including Winona Volunteer Services and the Winona County Historical Society as well as volunteering in other ways. His love of the Lord motivated his service to others. After retiring, Owen found joy in mentoring and encouraging people.

He enjoyed his daily trips to the Y with Jane and playing basketball with his Y buddies, woodworking, reading, walks with Jane and just spending time in conversation with people.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Joseph Warneke, Ellen Warneke and Paul (Melanie) Warneke; granddaughter, Frances and one more grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his sisters, Julie (Bob) Hunt and Mary (Steve) Gray; sisters-in-law, Ann Kuklinski and Joyce (Greg) Geilow; brothers-in-law, John (Nancy) Jaszewski and Ron (JoLinda) Jaszewski and many nieces and nephews.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents; Jane’s parents, Edward & Audrey Jaszewski and brothers-in-law, Paul Jaszewski and Andy Kuklinski.

Memorial Service will be 12 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Pleasant Valley Church. Visitation will be 10 a.m., until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Winona Volunteer Services and will also be dispersed to organizations that were close to Owen’s heart. In Owen’s memory, take time to have coffee and conversation with someone.
