Orlie Arden Moger

Orlie Moger, age 87 of the Town of Fremont, Winona County died unexpectedly while working with cattle on a neighboring farm on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Orlie Arden Moger was born on January 6, 1938 to Orvin and Alet (Halverson) Moger in Lanesboro, MN. He graduated from Rushford High School in 1955. Orlie worked for the railroad for a year following graduation as cook for the track repair crew. He also hauled canned milk for the Fremont Creamery. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1959-1961 and then served in the National Guard from 1961-1964. He was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. When he returned home he was united in marriage to Roselyn Barbara Klug. Orlie farmed on his father-in-law's land and the couple purchased the farm in 1966. He was a dairy farmer, grew crops and continued to haul canned milk. He sold the cattle in 1999 but continued the work that he loved in every way he could. He couldn't turn down an opportunity to help neighbors and was a good friend to the Amish community. Orlie loved to hunt and fish and play cards. He was a board member for Fremont Township as well as the Fremont Creamery. He was a member of the Lewiston Legion Post #90. Orlie just received his Quilt of Valor in honor of his military service.

Orlie will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years Rosie of Lewiston, his children Ron Moger of Lewiston, Koni (Jim Knope) Kalmes of Winona, Roger Moger of Winona, Jerry Moger of Winona and Kathy (Jeff) Kammerer of Winona,

He is further survived by 11 grandchildren Shawn (Doña) Kalmes, Scott Kalmes, Grant Kalmes, Brennen (Kelsey) Moger, Dylan (Britta) Moger, Casey (Nolan) Mueller, Meghan Moger, Alyssa Moger, Ryan (Cammy) Kammerer, Gavin Kammerer and Payton Kammerer, 4 great-grandchildren and one baby girl Moger due in December. He is survived by siblings Arnold "Dale" (Karen) Moger, Arland (Marilyn) Moger, Gary (Karen) Moger and Betty (Mark) Peterson sister-in-law Nanci Moger and two brothers-in-law Cliff Pierce and Jim Prigge.

Orlie was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Joan Pierce, Marian (Jim) Simon, Carroll Moger and Carmen Prigge.

A celebration of Orlie's life will take place on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lewiston. 

Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. and again on Friday one hour prior to services.

Burial will take place at Minnesota Veterans Cemetery in Preston with full military honors.
