Muriel "Mert" Gilman

Muriel "Mert" Tonetta Gilman, 94 of Winona, died Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at her home. She was born on April 27, 1926 in Cylinder, Iowa to Thomas and Mattie (Naig) Gjerde. On June 17, 1947 she married Donald Gilman. Mert helped Don on the farm. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Connie (Larry) Hoppe and Diane Keller; grandchildren, Lynn (Brian) Thompson, Mark Hoppe, Jennifer Emmons, Heather (Scott) Lorenz, and Ranae Forsyth; twelve great-grandchildren, Chelsea (John Gustfuson) Emmons, Brittany (Dillon) Bodermann, Brandon Emmons, Megan (Nicholas Sanchez) Hoppe, Jenna Hoppe, Carley (Brody Carlson) Gerdes, Hunter Gerdes, Nicholas and Carter Thompson, Christian, Karl and T.J Forsyth. Two great-great-grandchildren, Willow Carlson and Evelynn Bodermann.
Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents; and siblings, Juanita Ketterer, Orva Samuelson, and Irvin "Bud" Gjerde.
