Michael Gene Schild

Mike Schild, age 69 of Chatfield passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Michael Gene Schild was born on March 11, 1956 on the family farm in rural Chatfield to Lester A. and Pauline A. (Winans) Schild. He attended school in Chatfield and farmed on the family farm until his retirement in 2021 when he then moved into town. Mike was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He loved watching football games, spending time with friends and leisurely drives through the countryside.

Mike will be missed by his children Sylvia (Mike) Steien of Chatfield and Noloan (Lisa) Schild of Stewartville. He is further survived by his four grandchildren Joey Steien of Chatfield, Nick Steien of Fountain, Riley Schild and Morgan Schild of Stewartville and two siblings Russell (Cindy) Schild of Chatfield and Alice Mottley of Richland, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Anna Pickard and two brothers Lester Jr. and John Schild.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chatfield on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Peter J. Haugen will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Hoff Funeral Home in Chatfield from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025 and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Burial will be in the Chatfield Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren Joey, Nicolas, Riley, Jackson, Thane and Ezra. Honorary pallbearers will be Linus Hammell. Bernie Hammell. Steve LaPlante and Ernie Wright.
