Merlyn Krenz peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Born on August 25, 1932, to Albert and Lena (Vogt) Krenz in Estelline, SD, Merlyn dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and the betterment of his community. He began his career as a math and science teacher in South Dakota, where he instilled a love for learning in his students. His passion for education led him to serve as the Superintendent of Schools in Lewiston, MN for 28 years, leaving a mark on countless students' lives.

Merlyn's commitment to his students went beyond the classroom walls. He viewed every child as unique and capable of greatness, always striving to provide them with the best educational experience possible. His compassion and understanding left a lasting impact on the generations he mentored.

Family was of most importance to Merlyn. He treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. Merlyn would always show up to support and attend their events.

A proud Army veteran, Merlyn bravely served his country and was stationed in Korea.

In his later years, Merlyn found joy in exploring the country by car alongside his friend, Lee Phillips. In August of 2022, Merlyn enjoyed a birthday celebration for his 90th with family and friends.
