Mary Leon (Whitford) Nowlan, age 89, passed away peacefully at Sauer Health Care on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Mary was born in St. Peter, MN, to Leo and Mary (Beaudette) Whitford on September 19, 1936.
She graduated from Henderson Public School in 1954 and attended the MN School of Business. Mary joined Kenneth Nowlan (her soul mate) in marriage on April 19, 1958, in Dubuque, IA. They were married for 58 years until Ken’s passing in 2016. They spent over 50 years living in Hastings, MN.
She is survived by her brothers, Carl (Barb) Girtler, James (Mary) Girtler, and Paul (Mitzi) Girtler; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; parents, Leo and Mary; and stepfather, Stanley Girtler.
Per Mary’s wishes, a private family service will be held.
Hoff Celebration of Life Center is assisting the family.
