Mary Jo Kosek

Mary Kosek, 68, of Winona, Minnesota, passed away on December 14, 2025. She was born on May 12, 1957, in Los Angeles, California, and lived a life rooted in love, kindness, and deep devotion to her family.

Mary met the love of her life, Steven Kosek, and they were united in marriage on April 3, 1976. Together, they shared a remarkable partnership and built a beautiful life. They welcomed their daughter, Kristy, on November 18, 1977, and their son, Brandon, on November 6, 1982. Mary was the heart of her family, the most devoted wife, an extraordinary mother, a loving grandmother, and a treasured friend to many.

She was known for her fun-loving spirit and outgoing nature, finding joy in walking, bridge, pickleball, and golf. Above all else, Mary cherished her family. From 1990 to 2017, Mary and Steve proudly owned and operated a McDonald’s franchise. In retirement, they embraced life fully, enjoying winters in Florida and filling their days with the people and activities they loved most.

Mary was taken from this world far too soon and will be missed beyond measure.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Wynn; her mother, Betty King; her stepfather, Denver King; and her sister, Connie Geisel.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Steve Kosek; daughter Kristy Kosek and fiancé Scott Lund; son Brandon Kosek and wife Brandi; and her cherished grandchildren, Ellie and Thunder, who were the light of her life. Also, lovingly remembered by her brother Ray (Liz) Wynn, sisters Shelley (Dan) Wynn-Lopez, Debbie (Dave) Sturges, and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at 11am at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Winona. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.
