Mary Ellen (Koopman) Beighley, 92 of Winona, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Sauer Healthcare.
Mary Ellen was born August 26, 1926 to Marie Anna (Hall) and Everett Koopman in Girard, Ohio. She grew up in Fountain City, WI and attended nursing school in Minneapolis. Mary Ellen married Charles Beighley on June 6, 1948 in Fountain City. She worked as an OB/GYN Nurse at Mercy Hospital in San Diego, CA and Winona Community Hospital where she made many life long friendships. She was known for her excellent needle work and quilting abilities. Mary Ellen enjoyed traveling to many places both within the U.S. and outside the U.S. She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mary Ellen is survived by five children, Peggy Jean Beighley, Bonita June Beighley, Cheryl Jo Winchester, Claire Marie DuCharme and Charles (Julie) Beighley; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-granddaughters and 1 great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; one son, Jonathan David; two brothers, Robert (Margaret) Koopman and Everett "Buster" (Rosemary) Koopman; two sisters, Marie (Herb) Schlidinski and Pauline (John) Kamrowski; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Beighley, Mary Eileen Beighley and one brother-in-law, David Beighley.
A Celebration of her life will be 1-4 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the Stockton Community Center. Memorials are preferred to the Winona Public Library or Sauer Health Care.
