Marilyn Jean (Loth) Polus, passed away on January 13, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on July 14, 1936, in Winona, MN, Marilyn was the daughter of Oscar and Helen (Paul) Loth. She grew up in Winona and graduated from high school there.
In her younger years, Marilyn worked at WinCraft, where she contributed to the manufacturing of school supplies. Marilyn met Garlan Polus while skating at the Winona Roller Rink. They united in marriage on July 20, 1951. They embarked on a journey of love, raising five children and creating countless precious memories.
Marilyn tirelessly dedicated herself to her family and embraced her role as a mother and grandmother. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Free Church. Marilyn had a magnetic energy about her and could always be found laughing and joking with her loved ones.
One of her favorite pastimes was taking daily walks around the lake with her sister, "Vi". Marilyn's passion for family extended beyond immediate relatives, as she was the driving force behind organizing memorable family reunions at Arches Park in Stockton.
Marilyn had a love for country music, and she especially admired the legendary Elvis Presley. She even traveled to attend his fan conventions, basking in the presence of other devotees who shared her adoration. In her later years she spent alot of time listening to Engelbert Huperdink.
Marilyn is survived by children, Kim Polus, Keith (Mary Beth), Kevin (Chris) Polus, Kurt (Pam), Karla Polus; 21 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Helen; husband, Garlan; and siblings, Stella, Viola, Gracie, Leona, Larry, and Chuck.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 2p.m. at the American Legion Post 9.
