Margarita Zuniga Laabs

Margarita Zuniga Laabs, age of 81, left this world on May 11, 2025. Born on August 12, 1943, in San Carlos, Coahuila, Mexico, Margarita was the cherished daughter of Guillermo Laabs Pesina and Ofelia Verastegui Chavez.

Margarita's journey began with her nursing studies in Mexico, where she met the love of her life, Refugio Zuniga Delgado. The two united in marriage on January 9, 1971, marking the start of a beautiful life together. In 1990, the family made the move to St. Charles, Minnesota, where they created countless memories.

Throughout her life, Margarita was known for her unyielding spirit and warmth. She loved shopping, crocheting, and prepared delicious meals that brought everyone together around her dining table every Sunday. A dedicated churchgoer, she started every day by reading the Bible, drawing strength and inspiration for her journey. Margarita enjoyed chatting on the phone, tending to her flower garden, and embarking on adventures to visit family in Texas. You could often find her scouting out garage sales or enjoyed watching the latest soap operas, bringing a dash of joy to her daily routine.

Margarita is survived by her beloved husband, Refugio Zuniga; 5 children, Gustavo (Tammy) Zuniga, Juan (Misty) Zuniga, Dora Elia Iglesias, Sandra Luz Zuniga Laabs; 4 grandchildren, Brittany Marissa Zuniga-Laabs, Christian Enrike Iglesias, TiAnna Y. Iglesias, Aliciía Laabs; 1 great-grandson, Antonio Zuniga; siblings, Elida (Humberto) Cedillo, Guadalupe (Ramiro) Garza, Angeline Flores, Maria Rosario (Conrado) Garza, Armando Laabs, Elcia (Roberto) Villa; sister-in-laws, Aurora Laabs, Armadina Laabs, and Teresa Rodriguez.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Hervey Zuniga-Laabs; sister, Emilia (Afredo) Hernandez; brothers, Guillermo Laabs, Alfonso Laabs, Doroteo Rodriguez; brother-in-law, Antonio Flores; sister-in-law, Letty Laabs.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at 2pm. A visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the service at 1pm.
