HOUSTON, MINN. - Lylah Campbell, 95, of Houston died Saturday, August 9, 2003, at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. She was born on March 12, 1908 in Houston to Andrew and Christina (Abrahamson) Nash. She was a lifelong resident of Houston. Lylah graduated from Houston High School in 1926, attended Winona Normal School and taught elementary school in Spring Grove, Minn. for one year. On September 14, 1945, Lylah and Hal Campbell were married. Hal died on August 7, 1984. She was a telephone operator in Houston as well as being a homemaker. Lylah was an active member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston until entering the nursing home in 1986. She is survived by her nephew, Charles (Ellie) Huber of Elmhurst, Ill; and two nieces: Margrete Kildahl of Houston and Andriette (Keith) Mortimore of Circle Pines, Minn. In addition to her husband Hal, she was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, one brother, Irvin, and two sisters, Helen Christianson and Mina Nash. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2003, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with the Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. Burial will be in the Stone Church Cemetery in Houston. Friends May call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
