Lucretia Von Rohr Hobbs

May 5, 1952 — April 1, 2024

It is with a broken heart that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, mother, and devoted wife, Lucretia von Rohr (Heise) Hobbs. Lucretia, affectionately known as Cree Cree, peacefully departed this life in her sleep on Monday, April 1.

She was born to loving parents, Dr. Philip and Patricia Heise, in Winona, MN, on May 5, 1952. Winona remained not just a birthplace but a sanctuary of cherished memories throughout her childhood and college years, as well as meeting her soulmate and love of her life, John Hobbs.

Lucretia possessed a genuine love for school and pursued her education diligently, obtaining a bachelor's degree from The College of Saint Teresa and a master's degree from Nova Southeastern University.

In 1985, Lucretia and John exchanged vows, solidifying a bond that would lead them on adventures across many states, from Tulsa, OK, to the sunny shores of Titusville, Florida, where they welcomed their beloved son, Max, into the world. For over five years, Florida became their playground before they settled in Tulare, CA, where they planted roots for 25 years, nurturing enduring friendships and crafting countless treasured moments.

Lucretia embraced life with unparalleled zest, always ready for a vacation/ trip, a Bloody Mary, a Vodka Tonic, or maybe even a Colorado Bulldog, and especially a meal with friends. Her flair for décor graced homes in California and Minnesota alike, each space a testament to her impeccable taste and warm hospitality.

Her unwavering work ethic was a beacon of inspiration, instilling in all she encountered the value of diligence and dedication. As an educator for over 35 years, Lucretia left an indelible mark, touching the lives of countless children with her boundless compassion and infectious enthusiasm. She possessed a rare blend of sweetness and firmness, guiding her students with a gentle hand and nurturing their spirits with love.

Yet, Lucretia's most cherished role was that of COOLEST MOM EVER. She embraced motherhood with boundless love, standing as an unwavering pillar of support and encouragement for her beloved "boys," John and Max. Her willingness to immerse herself in their passions, from sports to politics & daily conversations, underscored her boundless devotion and selflessness.

The echoes of her laughter and the warmth of her embrace will forever linger in our hearts. Though she may have departed this world, her spirit remains eternally present in the love she showered upon us.

As we reflect on her life, let us raise a toast in her honor, hold our loved ones a little tighter, and seize each moment with the same enthusiasm and joy that defined Lucretia. Our lives will never be the same without her, but her legacy of love and laughter will endure for generations to come.

Lucretia's celebration of life will take place Friday, April 12, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Hoff Funeral Home in Winona.
