Lorraine Reiland

Lorraine Florence Reiland, age 86, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Born in Spring Valley, Minnesota, to Milton and Rosena (Priem) Merkel on March 20, 1940. After graduating high school Lorraine had jobs outside the home.

She married Donald Hammel on March 3, 1962, later becoming widowed. She met her late husband, Bob Reiland and they married on May 1, 1970.

She was a dedicated farm wife, loved her dogs and grand dogs, camping, casino trips, mowing the lawn, dancing, sweets, bird watching, family get togethers, hanging out with friends but most of all loved going to her children’s sporting events, and then her grand children’s events.

She is survived by her daughter, Glenda (Steve) Scott of Pine Island, Monty (Barb) Reiland of Eyota, Mike (Lori) Reiland of Dover, and Brenda Estal, of Tennessee, and son in-law Kenneth Biehn, Dover, MN; grandchildren, Haleigh, Mason, Riley, Samantha Daniels, Matthew Biehn, Shannon, Brian, Andrew, and Leah; siblings, Shirley Schroeder of Elgin, MN, Art Merkel of Rochester, MN

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Donald Hammel and Robert (Bob) Reiland, daughters Gloria Biehn, and Jackie Reiland, her parents, in-laws, and siblings Harvey, Clifford, Kenneth, Ray, Paul, Irene Merkel, May Vicker, Arlene Starkson and Rose Polikowsky.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff at Chosen Valley Care Center and Mayo Hospice for the exceptional care and kindness they showed Lorraine during her final months.

Funeral Services for Lorraine will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles, MN. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Dover, MN following the service.
