Lois Shaw

Lois Jean Shaw, 86, of Preston, MN, passed away Monday, July 14, 2025 at the St. Charles Senior Living, in St. Charles, MN.

Lois was born and raised in Spring Grove, MN to Norman and Mabel (Wegner) Stigen on August 20, 1938, she was the oldest of six children. She attended Spring Grove Public Schools, and was united in marriage to LaVern Shaw, March 20, 1956. They resided in Preston for most of their 22 years of marriage when LaVern was killed in a job-related accident in July of 1978.

Lois was employed with Northwest Aluminum in Preston for several years, then owned and operated Preston Liquor Store. She enjoyed many years of riding her motorcycle which included 48 states in America and six Providences of Canada. Besides her motorcycle riding she also had the opportunity to travel to several foreign countries. Gardening and outdoor activities were also her passion.

Lois is survived by two sisters, Rita Shea of Vadnaes Heights, MN; Vickie (Steve) Bjerke of St. Charles, MN; and one brother, Nolan (Connie) Stigen of DeSoto, WI; a brother-in-law, David Houdek of Cresco, IA; several nieces and nephews, as well as special friend, Dick Benke of Preston.

Preceding her in death is her husband, LaVern; her parents; two sisters, Barbara Houdek and Aletta Severson; along with several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws; and some nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Friday, July 18, 2025, at Christ Lutheran Church, 509 Kansas St., NW, Preston. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston.
