Lillian “Lilly” Henry, 92, of Lewiston died Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Rochester St. Mary’s Campus. Lilly was born February 28, 1931 in Crooked Creek Township, Houston County to Joseph and Rose (Vodraska) Miller. On February 3, 1960 Lilly married Gordon Henry. They made their home in Lewiston where they raised their family. Lilly was the Lewiston Fire Department dispatcher for many years, prior to 911 emergency call in. She was a stay-at-home mom and baby sat many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, in addition to working from home finishing thousands of buttons for Express Buttons. Her passion was making quilts for her children, grandchildren, and many extended family and friends with her manual treadle sewing machine. On a recent stay at St. Mary’s hospital, Lilly was greeted happily by one of her nurses with “I have one of your quilts.” In January Lilly moved to Green Prairie Assisted Living in Plainview. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lewiston.
Survivors include her children; Nancy (Gene) Woxland of Altura, Robert (Lisa) Henry of Jacksonville, FL, Dale Henry of St. Charles, Mary Ann Mills of Stewartville, and Janis (Barry) Olsen of Sanford, NC, sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Lilly was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon in 2013, a granddaughter, Nicole Mills, son-in-law, Everett Mills, great-grandson, Adam Waugh, four brothers, four sisters and several nephews.
A Funeral Mass for Lilly will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2023 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with the Reverend Chinnappa Pothireddy officiating. Burial will follow in Fremont Scotch Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Hoff Funeral Service in Lewiston, and one hour before services at the church on Monday. www.hofffuneral.com.
