Leslie “Jim” Garrison Jr., 86, of St. Charles, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.
He was born June 16, 1937, to Leslie & Yvonne (Mohler) Garrison, in Rochester. Jim loves horses, and won a lot awards in 4H. Jim was a farmer and a stock buyer. On July 1, 1969, he married Joan Walter, they were later divorced.
Jim and his dad had the Lewiston Live Stock Agency, in Lewiston. They had a team of 6 Belgium horses that pulled a Hamm’s wagon and they took it to many events, even to the MN State Fair.
Jim is survived by 2 daughters; Michelle Garrison of Sparta, WI, and Melissa Garrison of Tomah, WI; 2 step-daughters; Shawn (Cecil) Arnett of Macon, MO, and Catherine (David) Garcia of San Antonio, TX; 2 step-sons; Kevin (Lorie) Walter of Fleming Island, FL, and Kim (Christy) Walter of Olympia, WA; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters; Bernice Gathje of Peterson, MN, and Mary Jane Garrison of Pine River, MN. Preceded in death by his parents Leslie & Yvonne; 3 sisters; Beverly Morris, Billie Lee Boris, and Kathy Nisbit.
A Memorial gathering will be 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the St. Charles Community Center in St. Charles, MN. Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, the MN State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN.
The family of Jim wants to give a special thank you to the Chosen Valley Care Center, and Mary Koehler and family, and to Mike Welch for all they did for Jim.
