LaVonne Todd

LaVonne C. Todd, 95, of Harmony, Minn., passed away on July 3, 2026. She was born in Lanesboro, Minn., on September 24,1930, to Alvin and Mildred (Larson) Storhoff. She graduated from Preston High School in 1948, and the Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing, in Rochester, Minn., in 1951. She worked for a year as an RN before going to work as a stewardess for Northwest Orient Airlines, which gave her the opportunity to visit many new destinations and sparked her lifelong passion for travel.

On May 22, 1959, she married James “Jim” Todd at Union Prairie Lutheran Church of rural Lanesboro, as Jim would say, “grounding her.” They were blessed with two children: Kathryn “Katie” Jo and Charles “Charlie” Christopher. Besides being a partner on the farm, LaVonne worked as an RN at the Harmony Community Hospital for 27 years. She and Jim spent 44 years on “the farm” before moving “to town” in 2006. The next generation came with Charlie and Patty’s two children, Andrew “Andy” James and Keeley Marie. Just recently, LaVonne was blessed with becoming great-grandma to Josephine “Josie” Anna Mae. She cherished time spent with loved ones, bringing endless smiles and joy to her days.

Travel was a big part of Jim and LaVonne’s lives, as they enjoyed trips to various parts of the globe with their kids and grandkids. LaVonne delighted in countless games of bridge and cribbage with friends and family. Her love for the outdoors and green thumb were evident throughout her life in her beautifully maintained flower gardens. Another great pleasure was hosting holidays, birthdays, and other gatherings at her home. She was a dedicated member of Greenfield Lutheran Church and was especially involved with her Circle and the Quilting Group. Additionally, she was an avid reader and frequent visitor to the Harmony Public Library.

The family is grateful to the Mayo Hospice staff for their loving care and support of LaVonne. During the short few weeks of her declining health, she was cared for by her family and supported by her many friends. Her journey on this Earth peacefully concluded at her home in Harmony, with her loving family by her side.

She is survived by her children: daughter Katie Todd of Chaska, Minn., son Charlie (Patty) Todd of Harmony, Minn., along with grandchildren Andy (Annalise) and Keeley (fiancé Ty Sloan), great-granddaughter Josie, sister-in-law Lois Storhoff, and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband Jim preceded her in death, along with her sister Myrna Little and her husband Frank, brother Donald Storhoff, infant brother Kenneth Storhoff, and brother-in-law Bob Todd and his wife Jill.

Friends and family are welcome to join in a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at LaVonne’s home in her garden 1-4 p.m.
