LaVern Nelsestuen

LaVern Norman Nelsestuen, 91, of Winona passed away Thursday, November 9,2023, at Benedictine-Saint Anne. 

He was born in Winona on November 9, 1932 to Norman and Emma Nelsestuen. He attended Minnesota School for the Deaf at Faribault. He was employed at Fiberite for 31 years. After retirement he also worked at Saint Anne’s for 5 years. 

LaVern and his wife Karen were united in marriage at English Lutheran Church in La Crosse. The couple shared 61 years of marriage together.

He was a former member of the Deaf Club in La Crosse, WI. He loved watching the Twins, Vikings, and Green Bay Packers. 

La Vern is survived by his wife, Karen; three grandsons: Jack (Kara) Nelsestuen, Tyler Brown, and Kyle Brown; son-in-law, Robert Brown; 3 great-grandchildren, Olivia Nelsestuen, Maxwell Nelsestuen, and Jordyn Brown; sister, Arlene Fenske; and two brothers, Ardell Nelsestuen and Richard (Carol) Nelsestuen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa Brown; and great- granddaughter, Meadow Brown.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 4-6pm at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Winona, MN.
