Houston, MNLawrence "Larry" L. Martin, 67, died Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at the Franciscan Skemp Health Care Center in LaCrosse, WI. Larry was born August 15, 1935 in Warsaw, IL to George and Myrtle (Roth) Martin. Larry served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Following his military service he attended the University of Illinois where he received his Doctorate in Chemical Engineering and worked for 3M in Maple Wood, MN for 34 years. Larry was married to Carol Ann Schwilk in Peoria, IL and they were later divorced. On January 1, 2001 he married Karen Jacot at the Stone Church in Houston, MN. He had been residing in Yucatan Valley of Houston, MN for the past three years. Larry was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, MN. He was also an avid member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.Survivors include his wife, Karen of Houston, MN; two sons, Todd (Nicole) Martin of Elk River, MN and Craig (Heather) Martin of Lindstrom, MN; three grandchildren, Elly, Maxwell and Miah; step-daughter, Kimberly (Jay) Paczkowski of Grand Forks, ND; brother, Patrick (Betty) Martin of Nauvoo, IL; and sister, Dixie Martin of Garden City, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth.Funeral services are planned for Monday, December 16, 2002 at 1:00pm at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, MN with the Rev. Louise Stromberg officiating. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00am until the time of service at the church on Monday. Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
