Larry Johnson

Larry D. Johnson, 79, of Rushford, MN died on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Harmony Place in Harmony, MN.

Larry Douglas Johnson was born on Wednesday, November 3, 1943, in Peterson, MN to Ernest and Clarissa (Thompson) Johnson. He was raised in Peterson and was a graduate of Peterson High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. On December 3, 1988, Larry was united in marriage with Janice Sparks. Larry was a self-employed carpenter and lock smith in the Rushford and Peterson areas for many years. He served on the Rushford City Council. In his free time, Larry enjoyed fishing, bowling, visiting, going on drives, taking pictures, and most of all, he loved being a grandpa.

Larry is survived by his wife, Janice; two sons: Erick (Jen) Johnson and Shannon (Laura) Johnson; grandson, Abram; and a brother, Joey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rodney.

There will be a memorial service for Larry at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow on a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN.
