Larry Dean Gudmundson, born August 13, 1939, in Rochester, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2026, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and quiet strength.
From a young age, Larry developed a strong work ethic while helping his father, Gynther Gudmundson, in concrete work. He carried those skills and values throughout his life, eventually establishing himself in concrete and block laying. Larry was known for his reliability and craftsmanship, always taking pride in doing every job right.
On April 12, 1969, Larry married the love of his life, Sharon (Lehnertz) Gudmundson. Together, they built a life rooted in family and hard work. In 1971, they purchased and moved to their home farm on German Ridge, where they devoted themselves to farming and raising their family.
In addition to his concrete work, Larry drove truck for Hubbard Turkey Store in Altura, Minnesota, and later for ready-mix concrete in Dover, Minnesota, where he worked until his retirement in 2002. No matter how busy life became, he remained devoted to farming the family home place, balancing long days of labor with unwavering commitment.
Larry’s life was defined by his strong work ethic, attention to detail, love of fishing and hunting, and his gift for conversation. Those who knew him will remember his stories, his willingness to help others, and the quiet pride he took in a hard day’s work.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; his parents, Gynther and Lucille Gudmundson; his stepmother, Madeline Gudmundson; and other extended family members and friends.
He is survived by his sons, Shane Gudmundson; Adam (Melissa) Gudmundson; and Nathan Gudmundson; his eight beloved grandchildren, Tori (Seth Hilke), Ashlyn, Ava, Isaiah, Jaxson, Brody, Branch, and Mack; as well as his stepsister, Georgia (Paul) Manthei; and stepbrother, Doug Streier. They will carry his memory forward.
