Kevin Mundt

Kevin Dwayne Mundt, age 60, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024 after a courageous year long battle with cancer.

Kevin was born December 6, 1963 to Layton and Rose (Geilow). Kevin grew up in St. Charles, MN and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1982.

In 1983, Kevin married Barbie Lawrenz. They bought a farm in St. Charles in 1985 and raised a family together. Kevin was very proud of his children, Malory and Tyler; and their accomplishments as a teacher (Malory) and football coach (Tyler).

Kevin was a hard worker who had a variety of interesting jobs over the years. He farmed for many years and also worked as an animal nutritionist. Later in his life, he attended the International School of Baking, and in 2010, he opened Mundt’s Bake Shoppe in St. Charles, MN where he specialized in breads and baked goods. He was also employed at Mayo Clinic and later Teal’s Market in Isle, MN. Kevin enjoyed talking with customers and helping people.

In his free time, Kevin was an accomplished tractor puller, earning Points Champion and serving as president of SEATP (Southeast Area Tractor Pullers). He also liked cruising in his Corvette, snowmobiling, and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. In later years, “Papa Chief” especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren mini-golfing, fishing, and riding on his pontoon.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Barbie, and his children, Malory (Nathaniel) Kosher and Tyler (Ashley) Mundt; grandchildren, Camille Kosher (12), Beckett Kosher (8), Roy Mundt (2) and Lillian Mundt (2 months); sister-in-law Sue Lawrenz (Carl VonWald); brother-in law and sister-in-law Lyle and Beve Lawrenz; sister-in-law Melissa Mundt; cousin Brian (Frances) Mueller; aunt JoAnn Mueller; and many special nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Layton Mundt; his mother, Rose Mundt; brother Clayton Mundt; brother-in-laws, Rod Schwieder and Darol Lawrenz; and mother and father-in-law Ed and Doris Lawrenz.

A Celebration of his life will be 3 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2024 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service - St. Charles. Visitation and a reception will follow the service until 7 p.m. Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service-St. Charles is assisting the family. www.hofffuneral.com
