Kenneth Jacobson, 83 of Rushford, died Friday, October 10, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
Ken was born on July 22, 1942 in Spring Grove to Orran and Olga (Olson) Jacobson. He graduated from Peterson High School in 1960. On October 16, 1971, Ken married Helen Laumb at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. They made their home on his family farm outside of Peterson where they raised their seven children.
Ken was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, blessed with seven children and thirteen grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy. He was a lifelong member of Highland Prairie Lutheran Church, where he also served as a past council member, living out his faith through service and community.
Ken found joy in the simple and meaningful things—working the fields, spending time with family, sharing good conversation with friends, and making his regular trips to town. He also looked forward to playing the Powerball each week, a small tradition that brought him a bit of fun and hope.
He will be remembered for his steady faith, his love of the land, and the warmth he shared with everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Ryan (Leah) Jacobson, Anne (Travis) Berg, Mary (Jason) Schwarz, Melissa (Jason) Engelby, Amy Jacobson & Kristi (Josh) Rein; son-in-law, Scott Evans; grandchildren, Shane, Avalon & Emarie Jacobson, Brooke & Lindsay Berg, Mara & Myla Schwarz, Drake & Jake Ryan Engelby, and Logan, Boe, Elin & James Rein; sisters, Corinne Thompson and Luci (Ron) Franks; brothers-in-law, Herman (Melanie) Laumb, Laverne (Becky) Laumb, Wesley (Sarah) Laumb & Pete Reps; and sister-in-law, Dorothy (Joe) Himlie.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Evans; parents Orran & Olga Jacobson; parents-in-law, Lawrence & Milda Laumb; brother-in-law, David Thompson and sister-in-law, LaVonne Reps.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the following caregivers for the compassionate care they provided Ken: his daughters, Amy Jacobson and Kristi Rein; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Himile and St. Croix Hospice.
