Kay Therese Perry

April 27, 1955 — April 16, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kay Perry, who left this world on Tuesday, April 16th. Kay was born on Wednesday, April 27th, 1955, in Emmetsburg, IA, to Nan and Walter Grethen. She grew up on a farm outside Plover, IA, and attended high school in Havelock, IA.

She married and started a family, living and working in various professions in Kansas City, MO, and the Twin Cities. Later, she moved to the Idaho mountains, where she lived for twenty years before returning to Minnesota.

Kay was preceded in death by her mother and father, Walt and Nan Grethen, and her brother Mike Iler. She is survived by her siblings Judy (Ken) Dillon of Hugo, MN, Pam (Gerry) Rolle of San Jose, CA, Mary (Larry) Grebe of Bremen, IN, Pat Grethen (Indianapolis, IN), many nieces and nephews, her son Jesse Perry of Cebu, Philippines, her daughter Erin Perry, and granddaughters Ava Isabel and Samantha of Spring, TX.

Kay enjoyed many talents, including music, crafting, fishing, flora and fauna, but most of all, she enjoyed helping others. At the time of her passing, she had been sober for 35 years and had helped many others along the way.

In her final days, Kay was surrounded by her loved ones, who helped her transition from this world to the next. We are grateful to Megan Boyum and her family, along with Mary and Larry Grebe's assistance, for their help throughout the years

In honor of Kay's memory, we ask that you donate to those struggling with addiction, plant something in her memory, and always remember the serenity prayer when times get tough.

Kay will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. A celebration of her life will be planned at a later date.
