Kathleen M. Drube, 89, formerly of Lewiston MN, passed away on Tuesday, August 3 at Samaritan Bethany in Rochester MN.
Kathleen was born February 27, 1932 in Milbank, South Dakota to Arnold and Mary (Jann) Behlings. She grew up a farm girl in the Revillo SD area, attending country school, and graduated as valedictorian from Revillo High School in 1950. Kathleen married her high school sweetheart, Harlan Drube, in Revillo SD in 1953. The ceremony was performed by the same minister that baptized and confirmed both Kathleen and Harlan.
Kathleen and Harlan lived in Milbank and Groton SD, Olivia, Fairfax and Lewiston MN as Harlan was involved in the operations of various banks, raising three sons and a daughter. They moved to Lewiston MN in 1982 where they lived for 29 years before heading to Rochester MN.
Kathleen spent some time working for J.C. Penney and Frances Munderloh in Milbank and Camera Art in Lewiston, but spent most of her time raising her family and being involved in her church, community, and volunteer groups.
Much of Kathleen and Harlan's later years were spent traveling around the country and following the school and sports activities of their eight grandchildren.
Kathleen believed in connecting family across generations - past, present, and future. She shared a passion for family history with her children, and lovingly preserved childhood toys and family heirlooms for her grandchildren to discover once more. Her children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren share fond memories of her impressive sewing room, her homemade Halloween costumes, learning to play cards and board games at her kitchen table, and her delicious - enormous - family dinners.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harlan and her eldest son, Joel. She will be buried in the Revillo SD cemetery with Harlan and her parents.
Kathleen is survived by three children Kurt (Sheri) of Aberdeen SD, Gregg of Salem SD and Beth (Bruce) Sherden of Rochester MN; two sisters, Susan Behlings of Sioux Falls SD and Marianne Morrill of Ortonville MN; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Kathleen will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles with Chaplain Glen Holland officiating. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Revillo Public Cemetery, Revillo, SD.
