John "Jack" Sheridan

Jan 6, 1937 — Oct 2, 2026

Winona

John “Jack” Sheridan, age 89, passed away October 2, 2026. Jack left behind a lifetime of memories, laughter and friendships that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Jack grew up in Fountain City, Wisconsin with his two sisters, Sandy and Kay. He attended Cotter High School in Winona, Minnesota where he met his wife of 52 years, Nancy (Ciszak). The two relocated to Mason City, Iowa due to a transfer with his job. They later returned to Winona after Jack’s retirement.

Jack was a devoted father to Don (Jan) and Kim (Ron) Cardinal, and a proud grandfather to Ross Sheridan. His family was an important part of his life, and he treasured the time they shared together, whether it be the many family vacations, countless rounds of golf, or waiting for a big pull-tab win! (Still waiting!)

Jack will be deeply missed by his special nieces and nephews whose lives he touched over the years. The annual cousins meet-up in Winona provided some of his favorite summer memories. His laughter, stories, friendship and zest for life will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Jack enjoyed a long successful career as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative with Merck where he worked for 35 years. He was a hardworking and dedicated professional, which allowed him the opportunity to retire at age 59.

Outside of work, Jack knew how to enjoy life. He loved golf, vacationing in Florida and trips to the casino. But perhaps what people will remember most about Jack was his personality. He was a very social man and the life of the party. He had a way of making people feel welcome, bringing laughter to a room and turning ordinary moments into memorable ones.

A celebration of his life will be held on November 7th from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Elks Lodge, 4540 Service Drive in Winona. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Winona Health Hospice or Winona Volunteer Services. The family will hold a private burial.

The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you and appreciation to the staff at Sugar Loaf Assisted Living and Winona Health Hospice for the kind and comforting care shown to our dad.
