John Robert Bedtke, a beloved husband, father, grandpa, and friend, passed away on December 22, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on May 20, 1950, in Winona, MN, John was the son of Robert and Theodosia (Verdick) Bedtke. He grew up with a love of sports and community, studying Social Science and Physical Education at Winona State University while also making his mark on the wrestling mat from 1964 to 1972.
In 1982, John and his family moved to Dover, MN. He married the love of his life, Carol Boysen, on August 10, 1974, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Together, they build their dream home and created a life filled with joy, laughter, and adventure, including cherished family vacations to Paris, New York City, Disney, and the Bahamas, as well as countless road trips.
For 46 years, John was the proud owner and sales manager of Bedtke Brothers Feed and Seed, working alongside his brothers, Jim and Robert. He often reflected on the business, as one of his greatest accomplishments. John was not just an entrepreneur; he was a dedicated family man, who cherished unforgettable memories with his two wonderful daughters, Jessica and Ann and their shared adventures.
John had a passion for life, whether it was bowling, softball, hunting, or spending time at the Moose Club and Warrior Club. His family will always remember him for his love of travel and the invaluable life lessons he imparted, especially the importance of managing money. He was also an avid Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan.
John is survived by his loving wife, Carol Bedtke; their daughters, Jessica Bedtke, Ann (Marc Moraes) Bedtke; granddaughter, Opal Mae; siblings, Yvonne Finn, Robert Bedtke, and Jim Bedtke.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Mary Meisch, Sharon Krahn, and Margaret Weins.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles, MN from 10am to 11 a.m. A memorial service will start at 11 a.m. John will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Dover, MN.
