Jeremy James Berg

February 22, 1981 — June 10, 2025

On Tuesday, June 10, 2025 Jeremy James Berg, 44, of Winona was in a tragic accident and passed away at University of Madison Hospital.

Jeremy was born on February 22, 1981 in Rochester, MN and raised in Eyota, where he made core friendships that lasted his lifetime, and later moved to Winona. Jeremy was a beloved son, husband, father, stepfather, Pa, brother, uncle, friend, coworker, and leader. On June 24, 2006, Jeremy was united in marriage to Stephanie Googins, at Silver Lake Park in Rochester, MN and took on the role as a stepfather to Trisha graciously. On September 7, 2008 Jeremy and Stephanie welcomed their daughter Savannah.

Jeremy was hard working and devoted. He spent over 25 years with Kwik Trip; starting as a coworker and moving up to a Store Leader, for many years, until transferring departments as a Merchandising Coordinator. Jeremy was known for always working with a pen behind his ear, his humor to make the days more enjoyable, his open ears and mind to listen and give great advice, and his unwavering sense of being a true leader that many could look up to; and not just at work but every aspect of his life. Not only did Jeremy work for Kwik Trip, but was a man with many trades and talents. Jeremy was good at carpentry, building, painting, and many other handyman jobs that he humbly helped others with. He never expected anything from anyone, but always was the one helping others when needed and doing things for others even when there was no benefit for himself; he loved making others happy. His heart was gold and his intentions were pure and everyone that knew him knew what a good man Jeremy was.

Despite his many responsibilities, Jeremy always made time and showed up for his family. Jeremy especially loved watching Savannah play basketball for the Winhawks and her AAU teams throughout the years. He was very proud of his player #21 and personalized his license plate to his beloved GMC Diesel truck. He also enjoyed fishing, wheeling, watching TikTok and creating dinners from it, soaking in his hot tub, camping, traveling, and ordering things that were “as seen on tv” until modern TikTok Shop came (we all waited for him to open it and see what it was, sometimes it was a good laugh). Humor was his language for many parts of his life and always wanted people around him to laugh. And if the joke wasn’t funny and we gave him that dumbfounded look he would laugh, which then in return would make us laugh because his laugh was contagious. One of his favorites was “Hey did you get a haircut?” “No, I got all of them cut” and then laugh as we grinned at the typical response.

Jeremy is survived by his mother, Christine Berg; wife, Stephanie; daughter and best friend, Savannah; stepdaughter, Trisha; grandchildren, Corbin and Campton Guyer, sister; Lisa Meyer, nephews, Kahler and Ashton; a father figure to Violet Torres and Kobe and many others throughout his life; sister and brother in laws, as well as other numerous family members and friends and just those in the community that knew and will remember him as well.

Jeremy is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandmother, Julianna Decker- Hungerholt, Mother-in-law, Sharon Googins; Father-in-law, Steve Googins; aunts and uncle, and his cat, Windsor.

There will be a Celebration of life on July 27th, 2025 at the Green Lodge in Farmer’s Park at 1pm- 7pm. Jeremy loved a good ‘ol potluck so we would like to enjoy as he would have. If you would like to bring a dish to pass please feel free to, but not required at all.

Jeremy’s joke of the day “Never blame others for the road you’re on… it’s your own Asphalt”
