James Martin Edwards, 75 of Houston, died Thursday, March 19, 2026, unexpectedly at his home.
Jim was born April 19, 1950 in St. Paul to James and Minnie (Zappa) Edwards. He graduated from Harding High School in 1968. On March 30, 1996, Jim married Karla Tweten at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. He was a jack of all trades with a specialty in landscaping. Jim worked most noticeably at Truss Specialists, Motor Parts in Rushford/Winona, Southern Smoke & Chrome Catering and Hoff Funeral Home. He was active in the community with the Houston Lions Club, Volunteer Police Officer, Planning Commission, Tree Board, and SAL.
He was a longtime member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church where he served on the church counsel. His family was his pride and joy and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. Jim enjoyed golfing, doing puzzles, gardening, hunting, playing BINGO, games, landscaping and most importantly, helping others.
He is survived by his wife, Karla; children, James Jr. (Michelle) Edwards, Tamara Edwards, Tanya (Dan) Barlow, Jeremiah (Melissa) Edwards, Tina Edwards, Jacob (Stephanie) Edwards and Trent (Jadeyn) Edwards; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda (Bob) Michlitsch and Terry (Gary) Monette; brother, Timothy (Chris) Edwards; two sisters-in-law, Kim (Dave) Thill and Kendra (Bob) Budnick and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Christian Peterson; Karla’s parents, Donald & Kay Tweten and good friend, Terry Botcher.
Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2026 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with the Reverend Dana Jackson officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Thursday and one hour prior to the service, all at the church.
