James "Jim" Carl Biers, 74, passed away on August 14, 2025. On October 26, 1950, Jim was born in Winona, MN to Elaine (Feltes) Biers and Leonard Biers, the fourth of six boys.
He attended St. Charles High School and graduated in 1970. He was active in sports and excelled in wrestling and boxing. He liked to tease and joke around. He was an avid deer hunter, enjoyed fishing and loved animals.
He lived on the family farm until he was drafted into the Army, where he trained with special forces and became a Paratrooper.
In 1973, he married Bonnie Knipshield and they had one son, Scott. They later divorced.
For over fifty years he was an over the road truck driver, seeing most of the United States. He also travelled overseas to places like Australia, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Mexico, Bahamas, Africa, Egypt, went on a safari in Kenya and a Mediterranean cruise.
He is survived by his son Scott (Jenny) Biers; grandchildren Amya (Cody) Clough, Alexander Biers (Jordyn Chase), and Amelia Biers; brothers, Keith, Wayne, Dick, and Dean; significant other, Leann Daugherty; longtime friend and partner, Marilyn Ellringer and his much-loved dog Bailey, who would always wait for Jim's return and jump in his arms to welcome him home.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and brother, Ken.
He was a good friend and would drop what he was doing to go help a friend in need.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 1pm at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles, MN. Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles. Jim will be laid to rest at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Elba, MN. Military honors will be presented by American Legion Hugh Watson Post 190 and VFW Post 5630.
