Ian Christopher Richard

October 8, 1988 — September 5, 2021

Ian Chrisopher Richard, 32, son, brother, husband, father, friend, hunter, fisherman, forager, adventurer, dancer, traveler, and disc golfer passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, following a 10 month battle with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia. A lover of nature and all things outdoors. Ian's time here may not have been long, but he made sure to make the most of it. He always had some extraordinary adventure planned wherever he went. Before his bone marrow transplant from his sister Nyna in June he made an epic kayak journey down the root river with his best friend beginning in Chatfield and ending in Whalan. Born in the beautiful state of Hawaii, Ian chased his dream to travel and graduated from UW Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin in 2011 with a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. This Maui boy finished his last semester remotely from his bamboo tree house where he was operations manager at an eco vacation rental. He surfed most mornings at Hamoa Bay near Hana . Ian met his wife during his college years and together they explored many different states primarily Georgia, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii and California. They were later blessed with two beautiful children: Daniel Ezra, and Magnolia Carole. Ian was a tree climber and trimmer by trade, an outdoorsman by nature and an all-around great guy. He was always there for people who needed an ear or assistance with a project. He took extreme pride in his family, Maui No Ka Oi. Ian is survived by his wife Mikayla (Mraz) and their children: Daniel, and Magnolia; his mother Julie, his father Darrell, his siblings, Nyna Juliana (Jeromie), Jesse Wayne (Alison); his niece: August Juliana Power; and numerous aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins and friends. Ian now joins the ranks of those who have gone before him, his grandparents Wayne and Carole Duce, to meet our Lord in Heaven. Due to Covid there will be a private memorial service for close family. Please share a memory of Ian and view his video tribute, when it becomes available at www.hofffuneral.com.
